Team Dyaus secured the 2nd rank in the inaugural IN-SPACe CanSat India Competition. This event took place from April 15th to 17th, 2024, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The journey began with over 80 colleges vying for the top spot, and Team Nirma was among the 28 teams that made it to the final round. It was an intense three-day event where CanSats were launched using drones, and their performance was closely monitored during descent. Our satellite demonstrated exceptional capabilities in descent and attitude control, sensor functionality, communication reliability, and power management. We efficiently deployed the second parachute at 520 meters, maintained precise control with 10–20 degrees of deviation in roll and pitch, and captured the entire flight with our onboard camera. The CanSat was safely recovered without any external damage.
The efforts were recognized as prizes by the esteemed Chief Guests, Shri Somanath S, the current President of the Astronautical Society of India and Chairman of ISRO, the Indian Space Research Organization, and Shri Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe. Team Nirma’s satellite was signed by none other than Shri Somanath S himself, marking a memorable achievement for Team Dyaus.
