he Mechanical Engineering Department, Institute of Technology, Nirma University, is immensely proud to announce that our students have secured the First Prize in the prestigious Vikram Award – 2026, organized by Secure Meters Limited.
This national recognition highlights the innovative spirit and technical caliber of our undergraduate researchers.
🤖 The Project: Advancing Quadrupedal Robotics
Title: “Design and Development of High Torque Joint for the Quadruped Robot”
Quadruped robots demand actuators that are both compact and capable of delivering high torque density to ensure stable movement and precise control. Our winning team developed a sophisticated harmonic drive-based joint that pushes the boundaries of robotic locomotion.
Technical Innovations:
Meta-structure Flexspline: A unique design incorporating radial compliance to enhance performance.
Geometrical Optimization: A series of rigorous optimizations to ensure structural reliability.
MATLAB-based Simulation: Validated through comprehensive gait simulations to meet real-world motion requirements.

👥 The Winning Team
Congratulations to our brilliant students for their dedication and hard work:
Oves Malekji (22BME066)
Manasiya Shabbir (22BME068)
🎓 Expert Guidance & Support
This achievement was made possible under the expert mentorship of Dr. Jatin Dave. We also extend our sincere gratitude to IDEA LAB, Nirma University, for providing the essential funding and facilities to transform this concept into a working prototype.
Achievements like the Vikram Award reinforce our department’s mission to foster “learning by doing” and to produce engineers who lead through innovation.
Join us in congratulating Oves Malekji, Shabbir, and Prof. Jatinkumar Dave on this remarkable milestone!
