The Mechanical Engineering Department, as per Nirma University policy, regularly conducts expert lectures from domain experts of various technical fields to further enhance the knowledge of students and expose them to real-world technical aspects. Under the Basics of Energy, Conservation, and Management department elective course offered to BTech seventh semester students A 2-hour workshop on the subject of “Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC)” was organized by the Undergraduate Student Research Cell (UGSRC).
Mrs. Namrata Bhuptani, Assistant Project Executive, ECBC, Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), explained about GEDA. Mr. Pankaj Kasture, Executive GM, LEAD Consultancy and Engineering Services, Mumbai, gave a talk on ECBC compliance, benefits, etc. They also discussed job opportunities in the ECBC field as well as various BEE exams for energy managers and auditors. Mrs. Maaz Dixit, Architect and Energy Consultant, Neev Energy and Sustainable Solutions, spoke about various energy conservation measures applicable to residential buildings, as well as the ECBC code for residential buildings, Eco-Niwas Amhita.
Students benefited from this talk by gaining information about the application aspects of HVAC and energy conservation opportunities in building sector.
