Congratulations to Nihar Shah (19BME068), B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering student, for his exceptional achievements and accolades. His outstanding performance in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023 has secured him an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 26 in GATE ME and AIR 30 in GATE XE. This remarkable feat has granted him admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bangalore in the esteemed CP Computational and Data Science (CDS) program. Nihar’s academic excellence extends beyond GATE, as he maintains an impressive overall PPI of 9.01 in his college academics. Along with this, he also went as a Research intern at IIT Bombay for internship in 7th Semester to work under Prof. Atul Sharma on topic of CFD Analysis of Flow across a heated square prism. In addition, his research contributions are exemplary. Nihar has already published a conference paper titled “A numerical study on pulsatile non-Newtonian hemodynamics in saccular abdominal aortic aneurysm” at the Fluid Machine and Fluid Power (FMFP) conference held at IIT Roorkee in December 2022 as part of his 7th Semester Minor Project. Furthermore, he has developed an Electro hydrodynamics (EHD) Solver integrated with Open FOAM during his 7th Semester, showcasing his technical expertise and problem-solving abilities. Currently, Nihar is on the verge of publishing another research article for his 8th Semester Major Project, titled “Electro coalescence of a Sessile Drop on Liquid Pool,” in the esteemed Journal of Fluid Mechanics (JFM). Nihar’s dedication, achievements, and commitment to academic and research excellence are truly commendable. The Mechanical Engineering Department is proud to celebrate his success and wishes him continued success in all his future endeavors.
Shivam Padmani, B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering student, has made remarkable achievements during his B.Tech tenure, Shivam consistently demonstrated his exceptional skills in engineering. He secured an All India rank of 670 in the GATE exam. Furthermore, Shivam actively participated in various projects and competitions to explore interdisciplinary topics. Shivam primarily worked with Prof Absar Lakdawala on the application of computational fluid dynamics in various areas like biomedical and electro hydrodynamics. Shivam further excelled in a research internship at IIT Bombay under Professor Atul Sharma. He also gained his expertise in various fields by working with faculty members from other departments also to explore diverse topics such as image processing, machine learning, and scientific computing. In his very first year, Shivam represented our institute at the Virtual Lab Development event organised by IIT Kanpur and earned a Silver Developer Certificate. His expertise and dedicated hard work led to his admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Science at Bangalore for his master’s degree. Shivam’s dedication and commitment to excellence are truly commendable, and we take pride in his extraordinary achievements as a testament to the quality of education provided by our esteemed institute.
