Atharva Prajapatia and Shlok Panchal presented their research work titled “Predicting DST index of Solar-winds using machine learning techniques using RTSW (Real Time Solar Winds) data feeds from ACE Satellites” at International Conference on Recent Advancements in Materials Science and Nanotechnology (RAMAN-2024) organized by EC, IT, NU from 28 to 30 March, 2024.
Mr. Aryan Kalariya, a student of Sem-IV, B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, presented a research paper titled “Thermal and Structural Analysis of Barium Hexaferrite Synthesized by Simple Heat Treatment Method” and was awarded as the best poster presentation at the conference – Recent Advancements in Materials Science and Nanotechnology, from 4 to 5 Feb 2022, organized by Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Nirma University.
Mr Akshat Hetal Patel, a final year student of B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering was awarded NPTEL Discipline Star in online course certification by National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), MHRD, New Delhi. He was also topper for the Course titled “Finite Element Method: Variational Methods to Computer Programming” and in 1% Topper for the course “Basics of Finite Element Method-I”.
QUIZO-2020 – a technical quiz competition among student teams from premier engineering institutes like IIT RAM, MS University, ITNU, PDPU, CEPT, SOCET, ASOIT was organized by ASHRAE Western India Chapter (The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers – Western India Chapter) on 07/03/2020.
Nirma University Team – Darshan Makwana (19MMET03) and Nikunj Sharma (16BME107) won a second prize (Rs. 15000/-) in this competition.

Congratulations to our Alumni, Mr. Bhargav Patel (17MMED04) for receiving FIRST PRIZE – ISTE-GSFC National Award 2020 for Best M.Tech. Thesis in Mechanical Engineering titled ?Design and Development of a Manually Operated Vegetable Transplanter?.
The Thesis was guided by Dr. S.J. Joshi, Professor, Mechanical Engineering.
The National Award consists of cash prize, a medallion and a citation. The presentation of ISTE Awards will be made during the 22nd Annual Student Convention of ISTE on 27th March, 2020 at Goa (Maharashtra).
Prasad Doshi, a student of the department, topped Ahmedabad in CAT 2020 with 99.97 percentile. A mechanical engineer from Nirma University, Prasad is hoping to get through Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. This news has delighted everyone in the Department. Ltd., Baroda for his work titled ?Effect of Steam and Catalyst with Lignite Feedstock on the Performance of Downdraft Gasifier? in 2019
Team Stallions won the BAJA SAE INDIA Durability E-Baja (1st Prize), Acceleration(1st Prize), Marketing presentation(1st Prize), Skill Baja(1st Prize), CAE (1st Prize) and Overall 1st E-BAJA at the ATV Competition organised by SAEINDIA in 2019. The earlier awards include National level ATV Championship such as Go-Green Award, First in Endurance Race, Sledge-pull Award, Maneuverability Award, Raftar Award.

The NBC Idea Factory’s season 8 competition concluded with a final round at NBC’s Jaipur office on August 9th, 2023. Among the participants, two teams from Nirma University Team Atoms and Team Pioneers stood out, making it to the final round.
Team Atoms achieved an impressive milestone, securing the 2nd Runner’s Up position. Both the Nirma University teams showcased exceptional innovation, teamwork, and presentation skills among the six finalists.
All participating teams were tasked with addressing the central theme “Reducing the roller bearing noise in EVs” This challenge prompted students to explore innovative and practical solutions for this crucial engineering concern.
10 times National Champion Team Nirma Robocon secured the second runner-up position at DD Robocon National 2023 and also received the IHFC Winner Award by way of a cash prize of Rs. 5,000/- at the 22nd National Robocon competition held during June 15–18, 2023, at Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi, organized by Doordarshan and IIT Delhi. The team competed with 68 teams from India, including IITs and NITs.
The “Team Arrow” under the SAE Nirma Collegiate Club representing Institute of Technology, Nirma University, participated in SAEISS DDC 2023 competition in Micro and Regular categories.
Achievements in Micro Category:
i) Overall second prize and a prize money of Rs.45,000/-

Mr. Aditya Kundal, student of BTech Mechanical Engineering, Semester-VI won 2nd prize in the national level MATLAB Hackathon hosted by the Electronics and Communication Department of Nirma University. He was team leader along with two more team members, Mr. Akshat Jain and Mr. Barun Debnath, students of BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering, Semester-VI. It was 48 hours long live Hackathon from 1st January to 3rd January 2022.
The team Insane Triad won 2nd prize along with Rs 3000 cash prize in the national level 48 hours long live MATLAB Hackathon hosted by the Electronics Department of Nirma University and held between January 1 and 3, 2022. 19BME005 Aditya Kundal from Mechanical department lead the team with two team members (Akshat Jain 19 BEC 007 and Barun Debnath 19BEC022)

19BME060 Mehta Rushi, was promoted to the highest rank of NCC, rank of Senior Under Officer (of the NCC Nirma University Unit). He was also selected for “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat” National Camp in NCC He successfully attended the same.
Mr. Shah Tirth Bhavinkumar, student of M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering won third prize in technical quiz competition in the domain area of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) organized by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Western India Chapter held on 8th May-2021. He was qualified for ASHRAE Region at Large (RAL) international level quiz competition.
Mr. Vashishtha Nayak, Mr. Yash Bhutwala and Mr. Dhruv Borda third-year students in B.Tech Mechanical Engineering won the First Runner-up prize in Thermax STORM – 2021. STORM is an Online Case Challenge for second and third-year students; to provide a platform to bright young minds to solve real-world engineering problems & to use their ideas and concepts to come up with unique perspectives and creative solutions.
Robocon is an International Robotic Contest organized by ABU(Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) every year since 2002 and hosted by various countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The winner of the national competition represents the respective country at the international event. Team Nirma Robocon has been consistently participating in the event since its inception and won the national championship 9 times so far. The national competition of 2021 was organized by Doordarshan in association with IIT Delhi through online mode in three stages. Getting through all the stages, Team Nirma Robocon reached to Final competition, held online on 18 August 2021, and won the National Championship title 9th time. A total of 63 teams from various engineering institutes of India participated in the event and Team Nirma stood first amongst all. Nirma is the only team in India that completed the Theme and that too in just 54 seconds of time.
Team Stallions (SAE Nirma Collegiate Club) representing the Institute of Technology Nirma University participated in Asia?s biggest solar vehicle championship ESVC 2021 (Electric Solar Vehicle Championship) organised by ISIE India in Chandigarh from 24th December to 28th December 2021 at the well-equipped campus of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri. Honorable Chief Guests Sh. Navjot Singh Randhawa, IAS, CEO PEDA, Dr. Vikar Chawla, Dean Academics-PTU and Mr. Raj Kumar Verka, Cabinet Minister, enlightened the event with his presence. Team Stallions with their electric solar vehicle ?Mercury? won the ESVC championship 8.0 and brought immense glory to the University and the state as well. They earned a total cash prize of more than Rs 1.5 lakh.
The ASEAN-India Hackathon was organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs from 1-4 February 2021. For 36 hrs, 330 students and 110 mentors from the 10 ASEAN countries and India worked together online and competed as 55 teams to come up with innovative solutions to 11 problem statements. The Problem Statements covered two major themes ? Blue Economy and Education. The Prize Distribution Ceremony from the ASEAN side was attended on 04/02/2021 by Senior Ministers from Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam. Winners in all 11 problem statements were announced on the occasion.
Mr. Ashish Majithiya, Ph.D. scholar of the Mechanical Engineering Department, is working as the additional member of the Governing Council of The Robotics Society (TRS). TRS is a national-level society, formed by robotic researchers from various IITs, for promoting research and training in the field of robotics. E-Poster Competition has been organized for celebrating Engineer’s Day on 15th September 2020 by ASHRAE WIC. In this competition, many entries have been received from different colleges. On the basis of the evaluation of jury members of ASHRAE WIC, all the three prizes won by Nirma University Students. Jamin Modi (19MMET05) and Parth Patel (19MMET07) of M.Tech Thermal Engineering – IIIrd Sem. won 1st and 3rd prize respectively and Shreesh Shah (17BME097) of B.Tech – VIIth Sem. won 2nd prize in the E-Poster Competition.
DWEEP SABAPARA – B.Tech Mechanical, June 2017 passout student stood Gujarat State topper in the Mechanical Engineering stream at IES (Indian Engineering Services) UPSC Examination 2019. His All India Rank is 9.

The team competed alongside the prestigious institutions such as Cornell University, University College London, North Carolina University, Verginia Tech, Purdue University and 7 other University of US, University of Calgary, Norwegian University, Istanbul Tech University, King Fahd University, University of Warsaw, Royal Thai Airforce Academy, Military school of Egypt etc.
