Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1995. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in Mechanical Engineering. The Department thrives to impart fundamental knowledge and emphasises on the overall development of students. The Department excels in the core areas of Mechanical Engineering such as Design Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Energy Systems, CAD/CAM, Robotics and Automation, and Materials Engineering.

The BTech program in Mechanical Engineering is NBA Accredited under the tier I category. The laboratory and computational facilities are well developed and faculty members possess research qualifications from premier institutions in the country.

A unique facility of the Department is the Thermal Insulation Testing Laboratory; one of the very few in the country, established under the NAFETIC scheme of AICTE. The students of the Department have a strong legacy of excelling in various competitions such as in Robotics and All-Terrain Vehicle at the national level. The Department is playing a leading role in establishing the Centre for Robotics and Automation with an aim to cater to the need of upcoming technological developments related to automation in industry.
